An Update on Serial Husbands

I wanted to take a moment to share where things stand with Serial Husbands, and to say thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey so far.

As of now, more than 100 readers are actively reading the manuscript, and I am in the process of gathering and reviewing their feedback. I have officially completed Draft 12 of the book, which marks the end of a very intense writing and revision phase. From initial planning to this draft, the entire process took about five months, and it has been one of the most focused and meaningful creative experiences of my life.

Alongside revisions, I have finished researching literary agents who are a strong fit for this project. I have also worked directly with a literary agent to optimize my submission package, including the query letter and supporting materials. My goal is for Serial Husbands to become my first traditionally published novel, and I am approaching that process thoughtfully and strategically.

I am also incredibly grateful to share that early reviews are starting to appear on Goodreads, and the response so far has been genuinely encouraging. Seeing readers connect with the story means more than I can easily put into words. If you are curious, you can find the book’s Goodreads page here:

GOODREADS - SERIAL HUSBANDS

At this time, I have closed beta reader applications so that I can fully focus on incorporating the feedback already received. To those of you who are reading now, thank you for trusting me with your time and attention. Beta readers who complete the book and provide constructive feedback will be acknowledged in the published edition once the book is released.

Looking ahead, my primary focus for 2026 is simple but ambitious: to make this book the best version of itself, and to do everything I can to get it published and into the world.

This novel has been a true passion project for me. I set out to write the kind of thriller I rarely saw growing up as a reader. LGBTQ+ characters rarely appear as morally complex offenders in commercial thrillers. More often, they are positioned as victims, symbolic figures, or side characters without real agency. Serial Husbands exists to challenge that pattern by placing queer protagonists at the center of a high-stakes vigilante thriller, and by exploring how identity, secrecy, love, and moral injury collide inside a system that fails both victims and perpetrators. That inversion is unusual in the marketplace, and it is central to why this story matters to me.

For those curious about what the publishing path looks like from here, here is a brief look behind the scenes. I curated a list of approximately 60 literary agents and ranked them based on fit with the book, genre alignment, and whether they actively support LGBTQ+ voices or champion underrepresented perspectives. From there, I organized submissions into three planned waves. Each wave involves sending queries to a small group of agents and waiting for responses, which can take up to 120 days. Beyond that point, the process is largely out of my hands. Since I have only self-published in the past, much of what comes next will be new territory for me. If you choose to follow along, I will continue sharing updates as honestly as I can.

I am also excited to officially announce that the working title is SERIAL HUSBANDS. The cover art was designed by me using Canva.

Brief Synopsis (No Spoilers)

Michael Denton and Ryan Hayes are a married gay couple known for their reliability, discretion, and deep involvement in neighborhood safety. In secret, they abduct and dispose of men they believe the legal system has failed to stop. Each killing is documented inside a private encrypted archive known as The Ledger, a system they believe keeps them disciplined, anonymous, and justified.

When a teenage girl disappears during a routine walk, the town mobilizes and law enforcement scrutiny intensifies. Michael and Ryan use the chaos as cover to act on a plan they have delayed for years, eliminating a man they believe poses an escalating threat to the community. Only afterward do they realize the irreversible truth. Their intervention did not save the girl. It ensured she could never be found alive.

As the investigation tightens, pressure builds from every direction. A local detective senses a second unseen actor. A neighbor notices inconsistencies that do not belong in a perfect household. Inside their own network, a quiet betrayal threatens to expose years of carefully controlled work. As evidence accumulates, Michael fractures under guilt while Ryan prioritizes survival at any cost, forcing the couple to confront whether their marriage can withstand what they have done.

To everyone reading, supporting, sharing, or simply cheering quietly from the sidelines: thank you. I am deeply grateful for the trust you have placed in me, and I hope to have good news to share in the future about bringing Serial Husbands into the world.
